Biography
Michael Liversage was born and raised in Liverpool, England. Michael developed an interest in painting and sketching at an early age. He found himself drawing whenever and whatever. His enthusiasm for art deepened and was inspired by the 1970s, the culture of Liverpool his desire to pursue art and design as a career grew. In his early years, he became fascinated with the great masters, in particular, the Pre-Raphaelites, often visiting the Lady Lever Gallery in Port Sunlight. He enrolled in St. Helens College of Art, St. Helens, England where he explored many aspects of art and design, from painting to printmaking. He furthered his education at Falmouth College, Cornwall, England to pursue commercial illustration. Here he developed his skills in general and technical illustration. After college, he opened an illustration company in Cornwall, England. As the company grew, he found himself being more involved in the business aspect, rather than the creative side. The urge to explore his creative side to paint and create drove him to travel Europe working freelance and on contract opportunities. As he traveled he spent many hours visiting prominent art galleries and museums studying the great master artists and their techniques.
His formal work experiences included such companies as HF Technik and Design, Koninklijke Philips, Peugeot, Citroen, DC Thompson, Marshall Cavendish, and Original Style in Exeter England where he designed award-winning original tile work that has been displayed in some of the most exclusive homes.
He has exhibited and sold original artwork through various galleries and private collectors while establishing himself as a designer, artist, and illustrator. Professionally he has exhibited his artwork in the Jacquet Gérard Gallery in Lyon, France, Gallery Suzanne in Monaco as well as the Automobile Club De Monaco.
In 1999 on a visit to the USA, He met and married his wife from Rochester, NY, and settled as a freelance artist and designer. His work has found prominence in commercial and residential establishments throughout the northeast from NYC to Sarasota, Florida.
He is currently a contributing artist at Artisan Works of Rochester, NY, and works freelance concentrating on all aspects of fine art and design.
